Why can I not sign-in to Blackboard through the Blackboard App?
If you downloaded/used the Blackboard App prior to November 11 2023, please clear the cache, re-install the app or change the insitution to Medicine Hat College again. Upon re-opening the app, you will be taken to a new version of the login screen where you can sign in with your MHC e-mail address.
My first semester with Medicine Hat College starts soon. Why can I not login to Blackboard?
Student accounts are not activated until 45 days prior to the start date of your course.
It's the middle of semester and I suddenly can't login. My password is definitely correct. What has happened?
Please contact Registrations to ensure all of your tuition payments are up-to-date. Failure to pay will result in your access to Blackboard being revoked.
This is my second year at MHC and I cannot login to Blackboard, but I can still access my emails. What shall I do?
If you have not changed your password in over a year, please do so here and try logging in again.

Courses

My course starts next week and I cannot see it in Blackboard. Why is this?
Dependent upon the instructor, courses may not be visible and accessible to students until the first day of term or the first day of the course itself.
My course is stuck on "loading" when I log in. What shall I do?
Clear your browser's cache and try logging in again.

Assignments/Exams

I just submitted my assignment/exam and wish to try again, or something went wrong. What shall I do?
Contact your instructor in the first instance as they will most likely be able to resolve the issue. If it persists, please contact IT.
I am trying to upload an assignment, but keep getting an error. What is happening?
Blackboard has restrictions on the types of file you can upload. Files created within Open office/Google Docs are not supported, so please ensure your save the file as a Word document (.doc, .docx). A full list of supported file types is available here.
How do I install Respondus Lockdown Browser and use it in an exam?
Refer to the Respondus button above. The "Learning Online: Practice using Blackboard" course in Blackboard has a dedicated Lockdown Browser section with further details.

Why can I not sign-in to Blackboard through the Blackboard App?
If you downloaded/used the Blackboard App prior to November 11 2023, please clear the cache or re-install the app. Upon re-opening the app, you will be taken to a new version of the login screen whereby you will be prompted to sign in with your MHC e-mail address.
I am using the Blackboard App from the Android/Apple store, but it's not working. What are my options?
The Blackboard app is not created or supported by MHC. Please direct any problems towards Anthology, the app's creator. Issues can often be resolved by re-installing the app, or alternatively try logging into Blackboard using your phone's web browser.

Faculty

How do I enroll another instructor in my course?
If a primary or secondary instructor needs to be added to a class in BlackBoard, please check with registrations. Registrations controls which faculty are primary or secondary instructors in classes in BlackBoard. You can send an email to scheduling@mhc.ab.ca to confirm or make a request.

Respondus LockDown Browser

When writing Respondus Exams on your own computer, please make sure you have the latest version downloaded using the link below. We suggest using a hardwired ethernet connection to avoid issues, as a poor WiFi connection could terminate your exam early.
